Finding support to become smoke free – Rosalind's story

19 Aug 2026

Before joining SmokeFree Norfolk, Rosalind had smoked for many years and had tried to quit before. Rosalind’s health was the main motivation for wanting to stop smoking, but she knew that quitting would come with challenges. Looking for support and guidance, she joined SmokeFree Norfolk and to receive one-to-one support.

"My motivation for quitting smoking was my health. I had tried to quit before, but this time I wanted the right support to help me stay on track."

SmokeFree Norfolk provides free, personalised support to help people quit smoking for good. The service offers expert advice, one-to-one coaching, stop smoking treatments such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), and ongoing encouragement throughout the quit journey. By helping people manage cravings, build confidence and develop coping strategies, the service supports residents across Norfolk to achieve a smoke-free life.

"My motivation for quitting smoking was my health. I'd tried to quit before, but this time I wanted the right support to help me stay on track. I chose to use Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) alongside one-to-one support from my coach. The most helpful part of the support was having someone to talk to. Knowing I could speak to my coach gave me reassurance and helped me through difficult moments."

"There were times when stress and cravings were difficult to manage. I also found it challenging when my son was smoking and I was feeling isolated. Quitting wasn't always easy, but I was determined to stick with it."

"What helped me most was speaking to my coach and having support from my son. Their encouragement helped me keep going when things felt difficult and reminded me why I wanted to quit in the first place."

"I'm proud to say I've now been smoke free for five months. I've even been able to reward myself with some of the money I've saved from not smoking. Reaching this milestone has shown me that I can do it with the right support around me."

"Quitting smoking has been a real achievement for me. The support I received helped me stay focused on my goal, and having someone there to talk to made a big difference. I'd encourage anyone thinking about quitting to reach out for support because you don't have to do it alone."
